CCIE Security Core Knowledge Simulation

INE's CCIE Security Core Knowledge Simulation is designed to help prepare candidates for the newly added "open ended" section of the Security CCIE Lab Exam. This new section of the exam, added June 15 2009, consists of four computer based, short-answer questions which candidates have 30 minutes to complete.

Unlike traditional written exams, the Core Knowledge questions are not multiple choice, but instead require a short answer to be manual typed out by the candidate. Additionally, this section must be completed before proceeding onto the traditional configuration portion of the exam, candidates may not return to the short answer questions once they have begun the configuration portion of the exam, and no additional resources such as the Cisco documentation are available during the section. Most importantly, this section is manually graded by the exam proctors as pass or fail only. Candidates who answer more than one question incorrectly in the Core Knowledge section automatically fail the entire lab exam, even if they passed the configuration and troubleshooting portions of the exam!

INE's Core Knowledge Simulation offers a specifically targeted way to prepare for this new section. This product consists of a large (and frequently updated) database of short answer questions in which candidates must manually enter their responses to the questions. Unlike other traditional testing engines, these questions are not multiple choice, so no blind guessing is possible.

Multiple testing modes are available, including 4 question quizzes, 20 question quizzes, 40 question quizzes, and a quiz consisting of the entire testing database. The product is accessible through your online account, and requires Adobe Flash Player and a live internet connection to use.

Intended Audience

CCIE Security candidates who have already obtained their CCNP or have equivalent level of knowledge.

This CCIE Security Core Knowledge Simulation is also beneficial to those CCIE candidates who have attempted the actual CCIE lab exam without passing and need to build on their understanding of the fundamental topics.

In august 2007 I was busy with my CCSP training program when a colleague asked me to join him to do CCIE Security. I was not interested at first, thinking that CCIE was a bit too much for me. But I thought that it would be a great practice for me. A lot of experience in the technique and having some fun. Not at all to get the number. So I started by getting my written. This took about 2 months, because I already had 3 of my 5 CCSP certificates. End September 2007 I started practicing with the Internetwork Expert study material. At the beginning once a week, but when time passed more every week. In the end, just before my exam I had 2 weeks off and did 10 hours+ per day. My speed was building every day. The first lab I did in 3 days, but in the end I did it in 5 hours. This was the base of a successful first attempt at 13th of October 2008. Now I have my number!!!!

Cindy Tanner - CCIE #23143

After multiple attempts at the security lab spanning a period of three years, I finally took the boot camp from Internetwork Expert (Brian). He will not tell you the answers for the lab exam, however, he will help you think the task through so you can answer any task that you encounter. I also picked up some excellent tips for exam day strategy. I used the Class on Demand, mini labs and mock labs to learn the technologies. I have seen many vendors' books and practice labs. The IE products and support are some of the best available. I will use Internetwork Expert for my next IE. Thanks for making such a great product!

Sidney Spencer - CCIE #22926

I completed the CCIE program all on my own with no help from my company. I did this cause I set it as a goal now that I have reached my goal I am moving forward with another goal. That goal will be CCIE R&S an believe me you I will be using Internetwork Experts all the way.

Jean-Marc Mazzoni - CCIE #18851

Just cleared the Security track. I used IE v2 and v3 workbooks and class on-demand. The IE tool I used the most was V5 WB I. For the rest: practice (and again...), study group, Cisco site, Cisco Press. Thank you,

Karthik Krishnamurthy - CCIE #26041

Hello, Just wanted to let you know that I passed my IE ( second attempt) in San Jose. It took two whole days for the results to come in .. and the wait was excruciating. I must thank everyone at INE ... especially for their excellent study material . Top Stuff The lab was ok . Not tough and not easy either . I made very silly mistakes in my first attempt and knew what they were. Finished about 2 hours early and spent the rest of the time reviewing ... must have rebooted the entire kit at least thrice ...to make sure all tunnels came up and all verifications worked. The exhaustion is just settling in ... my fingers literally hurt as i type this.
